Short-term insurance

Commercial and transport insurance

A business has different risks from a household. We help owners and transport operators describe what they could lose, then look for cover that matches the work, the vehicles and the goods.

Businesses

A trading business usually needs to think about buildings, contents, stock, electronic equipment, money, and liability if someone is injured or their property is damaged. The list changes with the trade. A workshop, a clinic and a warehouse are not the same risk, and we will not quote them as if they were.

Tell us about contracts that require you to carry a certain liability limit. Those clauses are easy to miss and awkward to discover after an incident.

Transport

Operators need cover for their own vehicles and, often, for the goods they carry for someone else. Goods-in-transit cover depends on what you move, the vehicle type, the routes and the conditions of carriage. A policy written for general freight will not quietly stretch to a different commodity.

We ask what a bad day costs: one truck off the road, a load rejected, a third-party claim. Then we look for wording that responds to that day, within the limits the insurer will actually offer.

General information only. This page is not personal advice and it is not an offer. Product rules, tax and your own circumstances decide what is suitable. Read the official documents before you decide.

Questions we hear

Can one policy cover every business risk?

A commercial package can combine several sections, but it still will not cover everything. Fidelity, cyber, professional indemnity and goods in transit are often separate. We would rather show you the gaps than imply a single policy is complete.

What should a transport company bring to a first conversation?

A list of vehicles, what they carry, where they operate, and any contracts that dictate liability. If you have claims from the last few years, those help too. You do not need a perfect spreadsheet.

Do you arrange cover only in Johannesburg?

We are based in Johannesburg and we arrange cover for clients across South Africa, including fleets that do not stay in one city. Cross-border work needs to be described properly. Say if your trucks leave the country.
